Just thought some of you might be interested in this

I would like to share some of my photos from Monday with you guys...

Looking over the bridge at the entrance to Stockbridge at the River Test, can you spot the two people picnicing in the field?
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/Stockbridge-newroute001.jpg
A look down the main street of Stockbridge
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/Stockbridge-newroute002.jpg
On my previous visit I sat on the bench by the telephone boxes with the River Test flowing under the road in the foreground
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/Stockbridge-newroute003.jpg
Some big fish in this fast flowing piece of water
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/Stockbridge-newroute004.jpg

On the way back from Stockbridge and instead of the main A3057 road I took this country lane past Marash-Court
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/Stockbridge-newroute005.jpg
After much twists and turns under cover of trees couldn't believe this dead straight long piece of road
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/Stockbridge-newroute006.jpg

Just over the hill and looking down on King's Somborne. To the left of the left hand telegraph pole is the route I usually take on the return trip but this time I went to the right along the path close to the right hand foreground telegraph pole. The road down into King's Somborne has got to be one of the steepest I've come across, I walked rather than cycled down.
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/Stockbridge-newroute007.jpg
For the next pic I'm now looking back from that path at the country lane I've just been down, the previous pic was taken by those two trees roughly in the middle of the pic.
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/Stockbridge-newroute008.jpg

To finish off a couple of pics of firstly the area and then another of King's Somborne...

This is from my day out cycling on Monday 28th June 2010 where between a departure of approx 07.30am and a return of approx 16.50pm I covered a distance, according to my bicycle computer of 42.72 miles, roughly typical for me I think as a way of starting most weeks at present.

I'd like to share some of the photos that I took on my cycle ride out to Corhampton which is located five miles north east of Bishops Waltham, east of Southampton...

Just leaving Bishops Waltham around 10.45am, starting to head northwards...
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/Corhampton-12-07-2010001.jpg
...and then looking over someones driveway...
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/Corhampton-12-07-2010002.jpg

over a hill and starting down looked left and almost in the centre of the shot, I think that is a riding stables with exercise area...
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/Corhampton-12-07-2010003.jpg

A fair distance along and looking back straight ahead is the road back to Bishops Waltham whilst the road to the right takes you towards Winchester
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/Corhampton-12-07-2010007.jpg

Beginning to climb a moderate hill, went through a gap in the hedgerow and took this picture...
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/Corhampton-12-07-2010009.jpg
plus the nearby informative sign...
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/Corhampton-12-07-2010010.jpg

Look ahead and the beginning of a long fast swoop down into Corhampton where, on my bicycle, I got upto 28mph!

A couple of shots looking back at Corhampton and adjacent Meonstoke...

Looking back down the hill at the lunchtime stopping point by these farm buildings...
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/Corhampton-12-07-2010025.jpg

Momentarily confused by this signpost, which of the five routes to take???
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/Corhampton-12-07-2010027.jpg

Lastly two more shots from my total of 32 pictures, the first 'over the fields' and the second the 'route back to Bishops Waltham'

An enjoyable day out exploring to the east of Southampton where I covered a total distance of 41.66 miles, seriously addictive this countryside cycling!

Thought I'd come back for some photos from my East Tythlerley trip from a few weeks ago...

Right to Broughton or left and up the tree lined road eventually to my objective
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/EastTytherley26-07-10-4286miles002.jpg

Looking down from the hill side, you can see for miles!!!

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/EastTytherley26-07-10-4286miles017.jpg

The tree lined road that I cycled along and stopped briefly for lunchtime buttered bread roll and bag of crisps.
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/EastTytherley26-07-10-4286miles018.jpg

Pretty happy with this shot further along the road and starting to dip down.
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/EastTytherley26-07-10-4286miles022.jpg

Lastly entering and exiting East Tytherley, pub in second shot has large outside chess board, no time for a game as I peddled back home

Re: Cycling in 2010

It’s been four weeks since I last had a ‘cycling day out’ so reckoning that the seaside at Lepe is about 18 miles from Southampton I took to the road and following the single carriage road towards the overpass broaching the estuary I headed down south. Then I moved along and before turning to head to the road towards Hythe. Eventually I reach a roundabout with a right hand turning to Beaulieu and having gone over the cattle grid it’s across the wide open New Forest expanse of scrubland proliferated by the occasional wild pony munching at the grass. Just before the Royal Oak pub I turn left and then take the right hand country lane through the trees past Exbury gardens and onto Lepe about two miles further along.

I'd like to share some photos from my day out (out at 7.15am - returned 17.15pm) with a few notes I made to go along with the pics…

003 – boats get very close to shore
004 – wading out from the beach two men fishing in the Solent

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/30-08-2010-Lepe3666miles009.jpg
http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/30-08-2010-Lepe3666miles010.jpg

014 – motor or sail, both types of boat in this picture
019 – Is this as far as you can go? Well no by the tall tree on the right in the distance there is a narrow footpath taking you away from the beach and moving inland next to the mudflats.

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/30-08-2010-Lepe3666miles011.jpg

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/30-08-2010-Lepe3666miles019.jpg

022 – my bicycle temporarily stands alone in the middle of the open area whilst I take this shot
023 – looking across the mudflats at a motor boat
024 – close up of said craft with two people at the controls looking inland whilst behind them the hills of the nearby Isle of Wight can be seen
025 – Suddenly a large party of hardened walkers appear along the path on the left whilst the lady on the bank to the right looks curiously in my direction

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/30-08-2010-Lepe3666miles026.jpg

027 – paddling their own canoe – a low tech approach to navigating the Solent
031 – The footpath continues around the trees next to the mudflats
032 – Whilst moderately moist underfoot it then opens out for a short distance
033 – Before eventually taking you back up to the main Inchmery Lane road. Naturally the footpath sign also has the understandable cautionary notice from Hampshire County Council

Back cycling again...

04/10/10 - Out about 7.10am, going past Romsey (roughly 10 miles away) around 9.20am and then reaching Stockbridge (a further 12 miles north) about 11.40am. The hope was to see if I could get beyond this settlement but after a distance travelled I only managed to get up a very steep hill out of Stockbridge (and towards this turning http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/04-10-2010-Stockbridge-4393miles007.jpg) and looking at the road stretching off I think that was enough. Set off back and returned to my flat about 17.10pm, total distance travelled was 43.93 miles or roughing it off to 44 miles, not bad for one day I think! Only one pic worth sharing I think... looking over a bridge just north of Romsey at the River Test and a overgrown center portion which is perfect for (private permit) fishing http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/04-10-2010-Stockbridge-4393miles001.jpg

11/10/10 - Took things more leisurely this week, just popped over to Romsey via 'the scenic mostly non traffic' route, total for that day was only about 28 miles. Unusual cone like glass object in 'Romsey World of Water' (a large business that sells fresh water and tropical fish and other out door pond equipment( http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/11-10-2010-Romsey-2745miles002.jpg). One last pic from this day and autumn leaves on the trees behind Romsey Abbey http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/11-10-2010-Romsey-2745miles003.jpg)
