Doctor Who - The 2006 Season

The franchise was successfully relaunched in late March 2005 with ninth Doctor Christopher Eccleston taking viewers and new companion Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) on a 13 week journey of adventure and excitement. Christmas of 2005 found the Time Lord recovering from his latest transformation into a more personable, less angst ridden tenth persona played by David Tennant. Over four years featuring three full seasons and seven specials David helped further consolidate and strengthen the series success before eventually handing over the coverted role to his successor, relative unknown Matt Smith on New Years Day 2010.

As anyone noticed how much more polished and classy the theme tune sounds this year. All thanks to the National Orchestra of Wales

...and could <a href="http://www.bbcshop.com/invt/bbcdvd2122&bklist=icat,3,,doctorwhodvdvideo" target="_blank">this</a> possibly be the earliest pre-order title you've heard of?

I certainly did. The music is much improved - and thankfully they re-introduced the extended version of the Dr Who theme for the end credits!

I have to say, I just can't take to New Who at all.

There's something about it that just grates for me. I had hoped that this latest series would have been a bit less Holby City, but it's just not doing it for me. I'll keep watching, hoping that it improves for me, but I don't know. Maybe I'm just too...prim! Laughing

I agree, it's good to have an updated version of the original theme. It was a shame the announcer, for the first 2 episodes, spoilt it by telling everyone what was on BB next! Surprised
