I am very fond of both Brandt and Reinhardt - but I'd have to go for Reinhardt for his dry sense of humour and the fact that he had a keen sense of the absurdities of war. I liked Brandt's sensitivity and the fact that he was quite suave and urbane, but he wasn't quite tough enough to really stand up to Kessler. Whereas Reinhardt seemed to have the capacity to be quite nasty if he really wanted to - I always got the impression that Kessler was secretly a bit scared of Reinhardt and that was one of the main reasons he disliked him so much. All bullies are cowards, after all.
I also think that if it had been Reinhardt rather than Brandt who was implicated in the plot to kill Hitler, and Kessler had pointedly placed that loaded gun on the table in front of him, Reinhardt would still have shot himself like Brandt did... but he'd have shot Kessler first.
