Rome - Roman HBO/BBC Series begins...

BAFTA award winning 1976 BBC costume drama. I Claudius tells the Emperor Claudius? epic story spanning the annals of Roman history, from the mighty Augustus, through to the madness of Caligula, as it echoes down through the centuries?

Well it is confirmed that this 'epic lavish production' will land on British television on Wednesday, 2nd November 2005 at 9.00pm.

ITV, already smarting from the ratings 'bloody nose' inflicted by BBC over the new 'Doctor Who' have responded in the same fashion by lining up another 'Hollywood' blockbuster film, in this case the second Star Wars prequel film.

Anyway the BBC have an appropriately lavish offshoot site up and running and
it can be found at:

Judging by this site (plus this weeks Radio Times) this could be a good series. Even at this early stage it appears that 'ROME' will cause the same controversy as 'I'Claudius' did on it's initial broadcast in 1976.

If anyone's interested and really enjoyed the first season of 'Rome' it will be available as a DVD box set being released in July 2006! The assembled extras package looks pretty good!
