In amidst the reflections, clips and sound bites from contributors to this comedy series there was an appreciative nod to "Secret Army" which helped inspire the long running sit com. We had a few snatches from Season One episodes plus Jan Francis giving some brief thoughts as to her "Secret Army" character. It was also pointed out that there is a vague similiarity between "Secret Army" Albert and "'Allo 'Allo" Rene e.g. patron of a cafe and having an affair with a waitress.
For the most part I enjoyed this feature length celebration of this 'treasured' BBC sit com with many of the original cast appearing both in character (whilst Rene is writing his memoirs) and in recorded interviews covering virtually every aspect of the show (No mention of M Alfonse whom had 'a small horse with a small hurse' so as to keep up his promise to deliver his service 'swiftly and with style'). It's very easy with these reunion specials to get misty eyed about the past especially with that distinctive and inviting theme tune.
