Secret Army

The BBC's brilliant SECRET ARMY dramatised the lives of the brave men and women who ran the resistance evasion lines, which assisted Allied aircrews to escape from German occupied countries into neutral countries like Spain or Switzerland, during the Second World War

I just wondered if anyone agreed with me that the last episode was rather disappointing as far as the plot goes. Although there were a number of things to be disappointed about the thing I found most upsetting was that Monique did not re-unite with Albert. To add insult to injury she sang "If This is the Last Time I see You" which brought a tear to my eye. This is not an adverse reflection of the the superb acting, directing and technical aspects. Everyone did their usual terrific job. It's bad enough that Kessler got away and Reinhard was shot but to leave Albert wiping a tear from his eye was simply too cruel for me.

I am yet to see it but obviously will tonight, to me its typicle British Drama in it leaves you feeling that way. Nearly every episode leaves you with unaswered questions and you wanting more, I guess the last episode is nothing different in that way. At the time though the unaired episode may have answered a lot more, this I guess we'll never know.

hi

i watched the last episode and agree it was a bit anti climatic.
but i think that is true of all good programmes, because you just don't want it to end.

i thought the execution of the german solder was a travesty and of course wanted him to be free
because he was a goody, as opposed to kessler.

regards

p.s. can anyone tell me where the canal/barge scenes were shot in the second to last episode

I agree re the last episode, a real anti climax for me.

Re your question, I was told many moons ago that those scenes were shot in Norfolk on the Old Bedford and Delph Rivers. I'm not sure if this is fact but a lot was filmed around here inc Peterborough also.

Have you tried Kessler? I am now watching this and it seems very good. Regarding the Series Secret Army this is the cheapest I can find but they are not box sets.
