For me each of the three series are excellent in their own way. My only disappointment was towards the end of Series 3 how the story for the lifeline regulars seemed rather rushed and not particualarly believable.
The Kessler/Rheihardt/Duclos story became more interesting all the time though.
I remember watching "Kessler" as a ten year old, and being rather disappointed after "Secret Army". I am in the process of watching it on DVD at the moment, it is good, but not a patch on Secret Army.
I think Clifford Rose's idea of picking up the Kessler story immediately after the war would have been far more interesting. We could have seen how the "Ratlines" worked, this would have been an interesting contrast to the evasion lines in "Secret Army", as someone else mentioned elsewhere.
