"Secret Army Dossier" written by John Brason, ISBN : 0563 176296
with a back cover blurb that reads...
Easter 1943. The Belgian Lifeline team continues its work of returing to Britain as many downed fliers as can be snatched from the Germans. But in this tense war of nerves the Secret Army has setbacks as well as successes, and the German authorities' vigilance can only be frustrated by greater and greater daring. This second book based on the BBC1 series Secret Army brings together two episodes from the first series, three from the second, and a specially-written story to cover the events between.
Changing times bring new circumstances: Yvette's death by bombing makes Albert the new leader of the line, and on the death of his invalid wife British money provides a new, grander 'Candide' from which to continue the game of cat and mouse. Surmbannfuhrer Kessler fights back with new weapons, but the game is taken out of his hands for - unknown to him - D-Day is approaching.
The contents page giving a time frame for events reads as follows...
GOOD FRIDAY Easter 1943 9
BE THE FIRST KID IN YOUR BLOCK TO RULE THE WORLD April 1943 61
PASTURES NEW Summer 1943 103
RUSSIAN ROULETTE September 1943 117
PHOENIX December 1943 157
DAY OF WRATH Spring/Summer 1944 191
Although there are obviously some yellowing to the pages it's an unmarked relatively good condition paperback for a book that was originally published in 1978.
A quick first skim through the pages indicated that 'PASTURES NEW' features the removal from the cafe and relocation to the restaurant something that naturally we were not privy to on television.
This is certainly a great book find and one that I will of course treasure and join other paperbacks I have safely stored in a sturdy air tight plastic box.
