new Red Dwarf on 'Dave' over Easter 2009!

Red Dwarf is the longest running BBC2 sit-com in the UK. The first episode was originally transmitted on the 15th February 1988. Since then, seven series have been made, totalling 44 episodes to date (1997). The show is set on a large ship (the "Red Dwarf") in space, three million years, give or take a day, from Earth. The whole of the crew has been wiped out, except for David Lister, now the last human alive; Arnold Rimmer, a hologrammatic simulation of a dead crew member; The Cat, a humanoid creature that evolved from Lister's pet cat; and, in the later series, Kryten, a service mechanoid.

Nice to see a mention of 'Red Dwarf' in yesterday's (30-MARCH-2009) issue of 'The Times' newspaper... http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z152/saraht1102/RedDwarf-TheTimes-30-03-2009-1-1.jpg

Three new episodes over Easter around 9.00pm on the satellite channel 'Dave', no doubt followed up with a DVD release.

I guess that is good news and lets hope that the standard of the new shows is good.

During the original run of the programme i thought that as the budget increased the standard decreased.

Personally I liked it. I loved the style with lack of laughter track and movie like production value and direction.

I think it was a big mistake to split it up into 3 episodes and I feel this partly goes someway to why so many people didn't like it.

What people don't understand is this was simply a good excuse to give the fans 60 minutes of new material while at the same time producing a promo to promote a possible new series proper and to prove the actors have still got what it takes.

The first part was the worst. But again, it shouldn't have been viewed like this. Its like taking an existing classic episode of Dwarf and giving you 10 minutes over 3 nights. Terrible idea.

I like the added touch of some emotion toward the end with some fairly good acting from Crag Charles.
