...however Mission Impossible 2 under the skillful direction of John Woo was fantastic, highly enjoyable, fast paced excitment, a complete contrast to the messy 1996 outing. I loved the 'car chase' sequence between Porsche and Audi TT (couldn't believe the damage they inflicted on these ultra expensive cars) and the final Ethan Hunt on motorcycle escaping from the baddies sequence.
I hear that these two films are now available as a box set special edition and as much as I enjoy M.I.2, the fact that M.I.1 is part of it rather negates my buying this release.
I got to see the half hour 'making of' prog. for 'Mission Impossible 3' last night on E4 and it certainly looks like a great movie with marvellous special effects and exotic locations, certainly, in my opinion, taking up the mantle for pure escapist dramatic entertainment from the Bond films which I think have rather run their course (you can't top 'Die Another Day'. On general release at cinemas across the UK from today (4th May 2006) 'Mission Impossible 3' is backed up by the usual glitsy promo website and from all that I've seen and heard it seems to me that this years 'blockbuster' season at cinemas is off to a great start! Now how about a re-run of the original TV series, or even 'Man From U.N.C.L.E.'?
